Job Highlights
Position: Full-Time Bookkeeper/Accountant
Location: 5120 N Broadway St, Chicago, IL 60640
Pay Range: $24 – $30 per hour (based on experience)

Schedule: Full-time, in-person role at the Chicago headquarters
Key Responsibilities
As a Bookkeeper/Accountant, you’ll be responsible for managing the organization’s financial operations with precision and transparency. Your main duties will include:
- Financial Management
Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries using accounting software such as QuickBooks.
Record and reconcile daily transactions, including income, expenses, and bank statements.
Handle accounts payable and receivable efficiently.
- Payroll & Employee Benefits
Process payroll on a bi-weekly or monthly basis.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
Track employee benefits, leave balances, and time records.
- Grants & Reporting
Monitor restricted and unrestricted funds across multiple grants.
Prepare detailed financial reports for funding agencies and grant applications.
Assist with annual audits and preparation of required tax filings (e.g., IRS Form 990).
- Budgeting & Forecasting
Support the development of program and organizational budgets.
Provide monthly and quarterly financial statements to the Executive Director and Board.
- Compliance & Internal Controls
Follow GAAP standards and nonprofit accounting principles.
Maintain proper documentation and implement best practices for internal controls.
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and other accounting systems.
Strong organizational and analytical abilities with excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing grant budgets and audits.
Knowledge of federal/state funding for nonprofit social service programs.
Familiarity with South-East Asian communities or multilingual skills (a plus).
